With smoke billowing out of cocktails, dry ice bubbling out of every Champagne bucket, and a cups of tea that theatrically brew themselves in front of your very eyes… The Alchemist is a drinks experience like no other. This hugely popular bar and restaurant chain is serving up molecular mixology, alchemy and craftsmanship; placing theatre and immersive experiences at its core. Pushing the boundaries of cocktails and drinks with an impressive list, mixing unexpected ingredients with unconventional equipment and remarkable mastery. With an extensive cocktail menu, expertly fashioned by a team of in-house mixologists with 'an obsessive eye for detail’, The Alchemist were equally keen to continue this liquid obsession throughout their wine offering. Engaged in advance, Drinkonomics were tasked with overseeing the wine procurement process and all wine operations; before, during and after the brand’s MBO takeover by Palatine Private Equity in 2015. Drawing on his experience and successes at Soho House (in an equally cocktail-led drinks environment); liaising at board level and within the creative development team, Christopher curated hugely popular on-brand wine lists whilst balancing wine innovation and drinks list commerciality across all outlets nationwide… successfully negotiating and implementing profitable and commercially driven pouring agreements, retro payments, discounted trade prices, supplier contracts, wine training and incentives for staff.
